Why Hong Kong is Better than America... based soley on comparing McDonalds.

Apple Pies
HK - Deep Fried
US - Baked
advantage: HK

McNuggets
HK - Still has dark meat ones
US - all white meat
advantage: HK

Service
HK - they clean your table
US - clean your own table
advantage: HK

Value
HK - McChickens are still on the dollar menu!
US - so freaking expensive its not funny
advantage: HK

Language
HK - mostly speak English
US - only speaks English
advantage: I don't care, I can always point at pictures

Tissues & Condiments
HK: you get 2 tissues and 1 ketchup
US: you grab a massive wad of each in each hand
advantage: USA

Um... I think HK wins here, eh?

New found annoyance... 3-ply toilet paper.

It's amazing the amount of paper products used over here... napkins are needed everywhere, restaraunts and shops may not readily provide them and BYO in case the public stalls don't have it either.

But in cases where you do have it the stuff is so thick and fluffy it's a pain. I've seen 4-ply and 3-ply is the most common.

So the problems with 3-ply? too thick to be necessary, doesn't tear off the roll readily. doesn't tear cleanly, you get 2 sheets fine and the third is torn to shreds which you then have to deal with.

Don't get a good pull in? the roll, well, rolls and you get 3 feet to deal with.

4-ply... you take 2 sheets off and use as 2-ply... 3-ply doesn't work since you end up with a straggling useless single play sheet all tattered on the edges.

Joy.

In HK just over a week now... not bad, but weather is coming around. Cool becoming warmer.... gonna be interesting. G'ma's coming in two days, will be intersting, but will be good to finally get settled and move into the "permanent" place.

Got in one MBA app, have another to get in with an essay this next month. Will be easier with a desktop.

As for work prospects, a couple of good possibilities but the reject list is looking like the old grad school list... cream of the crop! MS, UBS, Fidelity down so far.

Past that it's eating a big chunk of $$ to get a cellphone. What a pain.

Just one thing... Haagen Daas makes a mean Green Tea Ice Cream. Nuff said.

Edison update... such a good boy...Spider-Man took a few pictures. Maybe a little too much candy.

WoW: can't login so not much...Eric et al just back from Blizzcon.

Poker: got a free $20, so playing it... doubled up last night on a slow grind. Caught A-6 bluffing to my A-8. Tonight...down to $15. AK all in against QQ. Busted on rockets to a 55 KK board. Hit quad 8's with no takers.

Work: 8 resumes out, 2 phone ints, 2nd rd int, busy busy.

Parade is crazy outside, neighbors having a party.
